Who can use what

Basic: all amateur bands above 30 MHz (6 m and up).

Basic with Honours (80% or better on the Basic exam) or Basic plus Morse (5 wpm): all amateur bands, including HF below 30 MHz.

Advanced: adds higher power, building your own transmitters, running repeaters and sponsoring club stations.

Power: Basic stations are limited to 250 W DC input to the final (560 W PEP on SSB). Advanced stations may run up to 1,000 W DC input (2,250 W PEP). The 60 m channels and segment are limited to 100 W ERP.

Guidance only. Always check the current RAC band plan and ISED rules. In Canada the mode segments are a voluntary band plan that operators agree to follow. The band edges and power limits are set by regulation (ISED RBR-4).
